We All Are Victims Of Patriarchal Society
I am neither a gender equality expert nor a gender equality student. The little information I have regarding gender equality stems from the society I have lived in and what I have seen around me growing up.
But what I have seen growing up made me say that?
What is the definition of “all” here?
Again, I am not an expert, but I can clearly say that I include both men and women as the victims of this patriarchal society when I say all. Therefore, the sooner we observe and understand, the better it is for society.
When people around me say ‘men and women are not equal’, ‘equity can be achieved but not equality’, ‘women cannot handle jobs or men cannot handle house’, it is nothing but pure ignorance.
But ignorance in what way?
Ignorance that roots from unequal opportunities for women? Or ignorance for making trying to make men emotionally constrained by stereotypes. Both men and women have been subjected to stereotypes
Some of the stereotypes we always listen to:
· Academia: Girls are better at reading, and boys are better at math.
· Behaviour: Girls should be well-behaved; boys are expected to act out.
